Kanha National Park is nestled in the Maikal range of Satpuras in Madhya Pradesh, the heart of India that forms the central Indian highlands.The national park is being popularized as the Tiger reserve and interestingly is being declared as one of the finest wildlife areas in the world. Spreading across two revenue districts the Mandala and the Kalaghat, Kanha National Park was declared a reserve forest in 1879 and revalued as a wildlife sanctuary in 1933. Its position was further upgraded to a national park in 1955.
The Kanha National Park is spread across the area of 940 sq km in the Maikal chain of hills. By bringing up the buffer and core zone all together, the Kanha Tiger Reserve has the total area of 1945 sq km.
The landscapes and the surrounding luxurious meadows along with the wooded strands and the dense maroons of forests offer magnanimous sightseeing experiences for the nature lovers. Making the land more beautiful and adorable, the crystal clear streams amidst the dense jungle cleanses the surroundings and makes the wildlife unrivalled. This vivacious land has been the source of inspiration for Rudyard Kipling, a famous writer for his outstanding creation- “The Jungle Book“.

Safari Timing in Kanha National Park
04 WD Open Jeep safaris are the best way to observe wildlife at the thick & lush green forest of Kanha National Park. 04 X 04 Open Jeeps with groups of tourists, individuals accompanied by an experienced naturalist are allowed into the park at fixed timings. There are 04 different zones at Kanha National Park for doing the Jeep Safari rides. Kisli, Mukki, Kanha & Sarhi. The entrance ticket you can book online or through travel agents or tour operator or if available you also can get this from the booking window at the entrance gate of the national park. Vehicle charges & guide fee are the other expenses which are separate then entrance ticket. At Kanha National park in a single day jeep safari can be done 02 times. One in the early morning hrs & the other one in the late afternoon by using 06 seater open vehicle. In each vehicle 6 passengers were allowed to travel along with one naturalist and one driver. Limited no of vehicles are permitted to enter inside the forest in each shift. It is advisable to book the entrance ticket in well advance to avoid any chance of unavailability of safari seats.

- At Kanha afternoon shift of Jeep Safari remain close for visitors on Every Wednesday.
- Morning & Afternoon both the shift remain close on Holi festival (In the month of March)
There are some necessary details which required for safari reservation:
- Full Name of every visitor
- Age & Gender
- Any Identity proof details like Passport, Driving License, PAN Card or Voter
- I D Card. Visitor is required to carry the same ID proof in original at the time of visiting the national park.
